World Cup Volunteers 2015

The project World Cup Volunteers 2015 takes place during Mondiali Antirazzisti (Antiracist World Cup) from 24/06/15 to 09/07/15 in Castelfranco Emillia. This non-competitive sports championship was created in 1997 to fight racial and gender discrimination, promoting the values of sport and multiculturalism. The 19th anniversary will involve 40 young volunteers coming from France, Spain, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Poland and Portugal. The 60% of these volunteers comes from groups at risk of social inclusion, notably the 2 identified in the 2012 EU Youth Report Young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs) and Migrants and ethnic minorities.The main aim of the project, in line with the overall objectives of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field (2010-2018), is to promote active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity by involving the volunteers in the organization and management of Mondiali Antirazzisti and by promoting volunteering among youths and stakeholders. The project will “emphasize the value of peer-to-peer education in promoting healthy lifestyles” [COM (2012) 495] as well as highlight the values of anti-discrimination and intercultural dialogue. Besides the voluntary activities, the project includes two conferences on raising awareness on volunteering and its recognition and a strong task related preparation and support.Through the project activities the volunteers engage in voluntary activities and increase their motivation for taking part in future voluntary activities abroad; undergo a socio-personal development, increase self-empowerment and self-esteem and their sense of initiative; develop tolerance and enhance their inter-cultural awareness; develop healthier lifestyles; develop a more positive attitude towards the European projects and EU values.The project contributes to the promotion and recognition of volunteering through dissemination activities and conferences.The event is organized by UISP (Italian Sports for all Union), the largest Italian sport association counting 1.300.000 members. The association promotes sports on national level as well as is involved in various contexts, such as – amongst others – youth involvement, the fight against discrimination, environment and sustainability, violence and conflict prevention, different abilities and handicap, healthy lifestyles. UISP Emilia Romagna in cooperation with Istoreco and Progetto Ultrà came up with the original idea of Mondiali. Mondiali Antirazzisti is an unique and highly participated event that engages each year around 8,000 people as well as decision makers and national media. In the 2013 edition Cecilè Kyenge the Ministry for Sport, Integration and Youth policies participated in one of the event’s workshop. YouNet and UISP have signed a cooperation agreement regarding ‘Mondiali Antirazzisti 2015’ and ‘World Cup Volunteers 2015’ stating duties and responsibilities.Mondiali Antirazzisti 2015 will take place in Castelfranco Emilia (30 km from Bologna) from 1st to 5th of July. Mondiali Antirazzisti has experienced a constant growth in the number of participants and in the 2013 edition over 8,000 people and 200 volunteers from more than 50 nationalities have participated. The official program agenda for 2015 is still in progress. The event will include: tournaments of several sports, activities for children and summer camps, outdoor activities, debates related to antidiscrimination, radio live program with debates and interviews.
