Currently, having a job is not only a source of income, but also an important tool to be part of the community for any group. This is clearer in groups with drop-out risks like people with some disabilities, in fact, traditionally, they have had problems to join in working life with equality. Moreover, managers and other workers have admitted that generally they don’t know how to act orwhat procedure to follow with workers with some disabilities. For that reason, they sometimes lose job opportunities. At least 16% of the EU27 working age population has a disability, many with the ability and the wish to work. People with disabilities therefore constitute a significant potential for contribution to the economy and the labor market. The employment rate of disabled people is 50% as opposed to over 68% for non-disabled people. People with disabilities are almost twice as likely to be inactive compared to non-disabled people. Moreover, the likelihood of disability increases with age, and, in the light of the current EU demographic situation, the occurrence of disability is expected to increase. Therefore it is crucial to address the needs of people with disabilities in order to facilitate a better integration into the labor market and to participate in society. One of the collectives which has more trouble to find job are people with Down Syndrome, also known as trisomy 21, and this is the single most common cause of a learning disability. It occurs at the rate of about 1 in 600 – 1000 births. Consequently, the pilot test of this project will put its efforts into this collective and for that it will be known as “Working Tri21”. The goal will promote the equality and the inclusion with training to prevent that some groups dropout of the working life As a result of all preparation, implementation, dissemination and follow up activities of the project, Working Tri21 will develop training courses designed to acquire skills, knowledge and competences to recruit the people with some disability into the furniture workforce. But, before that, Working Tri21 will analyse skills, capacity and knolewledge needs in job positions in furniture field and, moreover, this project will analyse people with some disability (at least 21 different collectives) about skills and the kept competences and potential skill mismatches for the working life. Later of that, two pilot training courses will be implemented to check the methodology. In this context, Working Tri21 brings together a multidisciplinary and transnational partnership formed by 4 entities: - Association from UK representing the furniture industries to give some advice in order to integrate workers in factories, showing previous experiences, contact with the enterprise and try to apply later in other countries. -An association supporting people with some disability from Italy -A Technical and Training Centre specialized in the Furniture and Woodworking sector in Spain -A VET Centre for the development of the courses from Italy The target groups that will benefit from the project: -People with some disability trying to get or maintain contact with the labour market. -Service providers for disabled people and VET institutions working with this target groups: Therapists, Social Workers, teachers and trainers and related institutions. -Professionals from the furniture and woodworking sector: Workers, entrepreneurs, VET trainers, Human Resources staff, etc. Interested in the inclusion of disabled workers in traditional industrial sectors -Policy makers in the field of Vocational Education and Training, Work, and Social inclusion at regional, national and EU level. -Volunteers and related institutions providing services to people with some disability.
