Working together through Social Dialogue (Baltic Sea Labour Forum)

The Baltic Sea Labour Forum (BSLF) is a platform for exchange of experience and communication between the key labour market actors in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). It was founded November 2011 as one of the main results of the Baltic Sea Labour Network (BSLN). The Baltic Sea Labour Forum brings together the key labour market actors from around the Baltic Sea Region.Transnational Social Dialogue and regional co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region have reached a permanent status under the auspices of the Baltic Sea Labour Forum (BSLF). Our mission is to work together through social dialogue in order to promote fairness and competitiveness.The core objectives of our work are:• finding joint solutions to commonly identified challenges• promoting transnational social dialogue, based on the responsibility of social partners for the development of labour market policies in the Baltic Sea Region• influencing policy- and decision-making in the field of labour market policies, e.g. by issuing joint opinions and recommendations• networking and exchange of experience between the social partners and political institutions in the Baltic Sea RegionThe Baltic Sea Labour Forum strives at synchronizing its priorities with those of other stakeholders and strategies in the Baltic Sea Region, such as the Northern Dimension, the Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) and North-West Russia Strategy 2020. Achievements: Joint Tripartite Conference of the Best Agers Lighthouses project and Baltic Sea Labour ForumRound about 120 participants came from 16-17 September 2014 in Riga together and discussed “Employment for the Future: How should the Baltic Sea Region respond to ageing workforces?”.BSLF Annual Round Table 2013 The Baltic Sea Labour Forum (BSLF) concluded its annual Round Table meeting in Helsinki on 1 November. The BSLF Round Table in Helsinki adopted an Action Plan on Cross Border Mobility. The main purpose of the Action Plan is to convey background information and analyses on cross border mobility; to encourage and support practical cooperation activities among the BSLF members; and to present recommendations to the governments of the Baltic Sea Region and the CBSS concerning cross-border mobility. BSLF Enlarged Steering Committee Meeting 2013On 13 September, 2013, the members of the BSLF Enlarged Steering Committee met at the Permanent Secretariat of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in Stockholm for an overview of the BSLF activities and upcoming events. Annual Round Table 2012The Round Table is the annual open main event of the BSLF, involving a wide range of stakeholders from social partners and others. It focuses on one or a few main themes each year which will are defined in a work programme. The Round Table is aiming at raising awareness and visibility of topical issues within the BSLF remit, by adopting a joint resolution for dissemination to social partners and decision-makers. The focuses of the resolution will are also defined by the work programme.This year’s Annual Round Table meeting focused on two main subjects:Youth Employment and Mobility of Labour. The both subjects are of particular importance for the labour market development and consequently for the sustainable economic growth in the Baltic Sea Region.
