Working possibilities and experience of disabled (I CAN WORK)

Project partners have agreed that there is a high level of unemployment of disabled in the cross border target territory. This problem consists of: work opportunities of disabled are not presented for employers; vocational education schools are not cooperating with employers and non-governmental organizations (NGO) in preparation and employment of disabled according to specialties, requested in the labour market. Lithuania has more experience solving problems of vocational rehabilitation and employment of disabled. The possibility to share good experience with partners from Latvia and promotion of work opportunities of disabled will help to achieve the main objective and sub-objectives of the project. The objective of the project – promoting the work opportunities and work experience of disabled to increase the number of employed disabled people in target territory. Main project sub-objectives: to stimulate close cooperation between vocational education institutions, employers and NGO to present employment areas and opportunities which were proved; to share and adapt the good experience of Lithuanian and other EU countries, to analyze legislative bases of LT, LV and 10 other EU countries, concerning integration of disabled into the labour market. Main project activities: to promote and present modern measures of integration into the labour market for vocational schools, employers and NGO. Representatives from Latvia will be introduced to Lithuanian legislative base, system of employment and vocational rehabilitation, activities of social enterprises, cooperation of vocational schools and employers and experience in employment of disabled. Seminars for representatives of target group, 2 visits to EU countries for exchange of good experience for project partners, camp for disabled will be organized. Durable products will be created: film about setting of working capacity and disability procedure and working possibilities according to the kind of disability social advertisement for rise of citizenship and social responsibility of employers; catalogue with the information about the situation of disabled in the labour market, work opportunities according to the individual and social indicators; analysis of legislative bases of Lithuania, Latvia and 10 other EU countries, concerning integration of disabled into the labour market. All project activities are closely related and complement each other. Implementation of this project will increase the closer cooperation cross-border between target groups. This will allow creating favourable conditions for disabled to find the job; employers will employ disabled more effectively. After the sharing of good experience and taking into account employers needs, vocational education institutions will start to prepare educational programmes, adapted for disabled. Public will be informed about the work opportunities of disabled, public citizenship and social responsibility of employers will increase. Expected Results: The analysis of legislative bases concerning integration of disabled into the labour market of Latvian, Lithuanian and 10 EU countries will be made. This analysis will show advantages and disadvantages of legislative basis of mentioned countries and will allow to present recommendations to public institutions of legislative amendments in Latvia and Lithuania. According to the data of analysis the publication will be prepared and published in Lithuanian and Latvian languages (1000 copies). The net of cooperation between LT and LV professional educational institutions and enterprises will be established during the implementation of the project. Cooperation will provide a possibility to share experiences, good eaxamples of teaching and employing of disabled, programs adapted for people with dissabilities. As LT vocational education institutions have more experience in training and employing disabled people , this cooperational network will be very useful for LV partners. Project will not create new working places for disabled people itselfe, but will create favourable conditions for achievement of this result (close cooperation with all target groups during seminars, promotion of work opportunities of disabled for employers, analysis of legislative bases concerning integration of disabled into the labour market will allow to present recommendations to public institutions of legislative amendments in Latvia and Lithuania).
