Working Outside @ L'Omelette Ferme
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Re-Org Trust, provides services to veterans in need with of support with their transition; their transition could be moving from military in to civilian life; from prison into the community; from being mentally un-well to recovery. We deliver our services using a peer mentoring service delivery model, veterans support veterans as we know this provides more positive outcomes for the individuals. The vast majority of this specific target group have additional needs with mental and/or physical health due to their service in HM Forces. In addition, we target our efforts to support those who now have fewer opportunities due to their backgrounds such as their mental health issues or offending backgrounds. We will support 20 participants over a 12 month period to take part in a work placement opportunity on a care farm in France. The project is called The WOLF Project (Working Outside @ L'Omelette Ferme), because we know having the opportunity to work in this environment provides participants with a great sense of achievement. While on placement the participants will be able to take part in all aspects of running and managing the farm and they will be able to gain new skills, knowledge as well as building confidence and feelings of self-worth and will directly feed into their accredited vocational qualification and professional development. The working programme provide during each work placement includes but is not limited to:- - Developing Business and Administration skills - Practical Small Holding Skills - animal care, practical food production (crop and animal, including butchery). - Sustainable Living - solar powered hot water, fire wood production for heating and food production, sustainable forestry. - Maintenance Techniques - animal fencing, dry stone walling, animal housing both maintenance and repair. In addition to the skills, and knowledge gained on the farm each participant will be able to take part in accredited training, which will be provided by the Open College Network London (OCN), and gain qualifications in subjects such as employability, advice and guidance and peer mentoring up to a level 3. This is distance learning and each participant will be supported to achieve their goals by staff at both The Re-Org Trust and L'Omelette Farm. The WOLF project in 2013 has achieved some outstanding outcomes for the individual participants and has delivered the results and impact we set out to achieve. We expect that these results will be replicated in 2014/15. Client Outcomes & Quotes 2012/13 - 98% of clients were supported to maximize their income - 98% of clients were supported to improve their social networks - 0% of clients have re-offended (62% have offending backgrounds) - 80% of clients are now engaged in Education, training and/or employment (including employment with The Re-Org Trust)"I have been put in touch with the Re-Org Trust. Having spend 2 weeks with them at their French retreat, I can not praise them highly enough. They do not judge or offer counseling, they do not dwell on your illness and they do not offer a solution to your problems. What they will do is offer a hand of friendship, make you proud of who you are. In just a short period of time they have given my back my self-esteem, restored some of my confidence and has enabled my ‘get up and go’ to be rejuvenated; so much so that I now feel empowered to help others in a similar situation." (Colin - WOLF learner 2013 - now in full time employment after nearly a decade of un-employment)
