Work with young people in gender issues
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project reflected needs of youth workers, teachers, volunteers and NGO workers active in the gender education. The aim was to increase the competences in gender issues and gender education of youth. The meeting and practical training enabled to share experiences within the gender education in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria and to work on the recommandations and innovations for more effective gender education in schools. The project also brought and opened more perspectives on the gender education - practical workshops and direct work with young people, work with environment of schools, online gender educational materials, specifics of the gender education aimed at boys and young men. The meeting and practical training was open for 20 teachers, youth workers, volunteers and NGO workers from Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria. The practical training was provided by experts from partner organizations NESEHNUTÍ, Aspekt, Poika and one expert, who cooperates with NESEHNUTI, however these lecturers were also part of the group of participants. They get feedback on their work and together with teachers they worked on the innovations and recommandations on more effective gender education in schools. The results of the project included better knowledge of participants of gender issues, development of cooperation among participants, organizations working in gender education, transfer of the gender education into the schools through the work of participants and spreading recommandations to the teachers and public. NESEHNUTI and poika established through the project a close partnership and are currently planning to apply for partner projects and negotiating implementation of good practices in the field of gender-sensitive education from Austria to the Czech Republic. NESEHNUTI published two articles that draw on the outcomes of the international meeting and materials obtained from partner organizations and lecturers. The articles are disseminated to teachers of schools with which NESEHNUTI cooperates with and are a positive response. The project has also started efforts of NESEHNUTI to deal with gender-sensitive education in the Czech Republic conceptually in the coming years, in the long term, and helped us to have to look for good partners and helped identify possible directions in which to go (work with environment of schools, working with the boys, platform of parents, etc.).
