Work It Out
Start date: Aug 1, 2016,
End date: Feb 28, 2017
In today's contemporary world we live fast and intensively- stress is omnipresent in our live and it consequently leads to many problems like malaise, addictions or simply- burnout. Sometimes we get lost in a rush of city life and constant desire to have more. We become workaholics, technology addicts, fast-food eaters… Living this way, we tend to forget about our well-being and proper care of our mind and body. Although certain amount of stress is needed in our life, sometimes things go too far. How to avoid it? How to have time and willingness for everything? Is it possible to get away from this chase? That is why we came up with the idea of the project Work it out!. Our main goal is to prove young European fellows that finding a balance in a life is doable and quite easy to maintain. During our meeting we will focus on techniques which help to combat and consequently overcome stress and stressful situations and learn how not to create unnecessary reasons for being stressed. We will take from the knowledge of professionals in the fields of psychology and the old physical methods which naturally may improve the state of mind as well as body (for example yoga). The scheduled working methods are mainly created in such a way that participants have an opportunity to work in international groups. Integration games and icebreakers will help to unite us at the very beginning; different workshops will stimulate our imagination and creativity ( handmade amulets or DIY things); sport & outdoor activities will be one step forward to be aware of the importance of physical activity in our life (apart from yoga we will play team sports: football, basketball, volleyball). Non-formal education is a key aspect in this program- thanks to meetings with experts of different fields like psychology or couching, youngsters will gain new knowledge which they will use in their life. We will also have a stimulating debate and interesting lecture about so called new world addictions. Trip to Kaunas and city game there will be a great opportunity to see firsthand culture and traditions of beautiful Lithuania. In order to make sure that everybody enjoys our project and so as to give everybody chance to speak their mind we will also conduct daily evaluations. The project will bring together young people from five European countries. We really want to increase the awareness of young people involved in the topic of project and as well as Lithuanian community. That is why we want to spread the knowledge about it to the local Lithuanian community- apart from writing a blog entries we are thinking of a project to have the original and catchy climax – a flashmob in a center of Kaunas.
