WoMentor - Gender Equality through EVS
Start date: Mar 1, 2012,

The main theme for the EVS service is European awareness and Gender Equality. The service will last for 12 months; the project will last for 13 months. There will be one volunteer from Estonia coming to do her service in a European federation (13 members from 11 different countries) at its headquarters in Austria. The objectives of the EVS project are connected with objectives of the hosting organisation, which are the contribution to Gender Equality and Equal Chances by mainly Women-to-Women-Mentoring projects. Through EVS we want to increase the participation of young people in our activities by inviting them to actively get involved within our European federation (from all over the world). It gives us the possibility to promote principles and policies of equal opportunities and through working with individuals we also get the possibility to promote social change. We are highly motivated to support women’s mobility in Europe and to help them to do voluntary work outside their home-country. We believe that EVS is very important tool to improve girls and women chances, possibilities and overall situation in society. We are also really motivated to give them a voice, heard on national and international level. This project will also help us to promote mentoring as innovative way to do voluntary work and to have nonformal knowledge transfer and informal learning experience as for example through exchanges with mentees, mentors can learn new perspectives and reflect on their attitudes and preferences. For young women it will be a chance to learn in an international organisation.
