WOMENT. Training for entrepreunership, improving the women's employment

One common problem of the current economic crisis is unemployment.Long-term unemployment means an aggravating factor of the problem. Apart from its social and economic impact, it affects social cohesion and it could hinder growth. One efficient alternative to face unemployment is self-employment. Entrepreneurship becomes an opportunity for independence and economic stability among members of the group of unemployed. High level of unemployment has created the necessity for people to generate their own resources, to start their own business, and to become employers instead of employees. This opportunity is especially suitable for women.According to a study by the EC, there are three types of obstacles encountered by women to start a business: contextual; economic ("less financial credibility" for women); and other "minor" obstacles.Training is an essential tool to promote entrepreneurship culture. The main objective has been to train unemployed women in the EU countries in the field of entrepreneurship and self-employment, so that they can successfully face the process of becoming autonomous and entrepreneurs.Other objectives:• To establish the profile of entrepreneur women in Europe.• To develop a guide of good practices that includes European experiences of entrepreneurship.• To develop training materials on entrepreneurship that could be used in various training and educational environments.• To present and disseminate educational content using several methodologies.• To promote a culture of entrepreneurship among unemployed women (long-term).7 organizations from 5 countries participate in the project (Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland and Spain). The distribution of tasks has been carried out according to professional specialization and its fields of activity. There has been a political partner (in contact with the group of entrepreneur women) that supports work to be developed from the point of view of the success of entrepreneurship; a technological partner (that designs and develops different ICT-related items); and five technical partners (to develop research work, elaboration of training materials, implementation, dissemination, etc.).The main final product is training material (face to face and on-line modality) that helps encourage entrepreneurship culture among the unemployed women collective in the EU and facilitates its qualification in entrepreneurship. The expected impact is to increase those qualifications among the target group and to facilitate the design and development of training policies for entrepreneurship.
