Women's Entrepreneurship in the European Union

The Women’s Entrepreneurship in the European Union (WEEU) Consortium project is a response to the persistent gender gap in entrepreneurship. The project seeks to contribute to the development of women’s entrepreneurship teaching and learning, and hence to promote women’s entrepreneurship, by :a) establishing an innovative partnership between higher education institutions, chambers of commerce and women business owners/enterprisesb) the research, design, piloting and dissemination of new teaching and learning methods and materials relevant to aspiring and existing women entrepreneursc) the research, design, piloting and dissemination of learning and development via mentoring (including e-mentoring) and work shadowing exchanges between higher education institutions, chambers of commerce and women business owners/enterprises.The project will develop a business planning toolkit and resource packs on creativity and innovation ; social entrepreneurship ; reconciliation of professional, private and family life ; sustainability and sustainable development. During the project the new materials will be piloted at European Summer Schools for women entrepreneurs in Wales and in France. This will be supported by small scale pilot mentoring / e-mentoring and work shadowing schemes involving the partner organisations.The materials and approaches developed during the project will be disseminated via local events in Wales and Lithuania and via a joint international dissemination conference in France (Paris) in 2010.
