Women in Technical Education

The project idea comes from the awareness that in order to promote the Country development and competitiveness it is necessary to reconsider the social value of the industrial work and to promote the technical and scientific training that has recently lost appeal compared to classical training. Other European countries are in the same situation for similar reasons: a non sufficient young orienteering policy , the school can’t follow the market changes, the industrial policy is not linked to the training policy.Promotion of technical training can be pursued even through an increase of girls enrolment to technical institutes, as girls normally have the proper skills and capabilities to satisfy the request of manufacturing industries. The manufacturing sector is so technologically advanced that roles and positions are not only for man or only for women. It is therefore necessary a mind changing focusing on the high school choice based on skills, value and the interest for the subjects as there is now a gap of 110.00 unit between request and offer of graduated Italian technician. The project aim is to improve the quality and the appeal of the technical training system in the involved countries, transferring the innovation existing in some partner countries: Germany and Austria.Italy, Poland, Holland and Hungary represents, on the other hand, the countries trying to learn these new and successful instruments and initiatives in order to increase the number of girls attending technical institutes helping them starting a career once only for men. In particular orienteering initiatives and tools will be imported in order to: • offer girls and their families information about technical training and its advantages in this economical context strongly based on the development and growth of manufacturing industries and their socio-economical context;• offer girls supporting instruments to think about their aptitudes and the training offer of the high school• create cooperation networks amongst middle schools - high schools – work sector, to promote technical training in the territory, particularly towards girls that have the skills to satisfy exactly the request of the work market. In Italy this project is coordinated by Fondazione CUOA and transferred in the Veneto Region through the Regional body, Vicenza Industrial Association and the Technical Institut (high school) "Rossi" of Vicenza, that are involved in experimenting new initiatives and instruments of other European Country. In particular, Vicenza Industrial Association and Technical Institut (high school) "Rossi" are part of the "Club dei 15" (Club of 15 Italian provinces with the highest levels of industrialization), could spread and promote the project in Italy in cooperation with Federmeccanica and thanks to the cooperation agreement that they signed in 2010 with the Ministry of Education.
