WOMED: Intercultural Dialogue on Women's role in the Mediterranean Area
Start date: Jun 2, 2016, End date: Jun 1, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

"WOMED: Intercultural Dialogue on Women's role in the Mediterranean Area" is a multilateral youth exchange intended to four organizations from different Mediterranean Countries: "Pro Loco Taurisano" from Italy, "Hellas for Us" from Greece, "ACT for SOCIETY Center" from Albania and "Chantiers Sociaux Marocains" from Morocco. The project involves a total of 20 young participants + 4 group leaders. The activity takes place mainly in Taurisano (Southern Italy) from the 18th till the 25th of September 2016 and aims to involve the participants, struggling with economic, geographical and educational obstacles, in a process that, starting from the analysis of their own communities, stimulates young people to discuss, in an intercultural approach, about the role the women play in the Mediterranean area and how they could be integrated actively in a local community.Through the adoption of non-formal methodology, the young participants will acquire and/or develop soft and specific skills, core competencies. They will have the opportunity to feel closer to the European Union and its youth policies, by learning and taking advantage of the chances offered by the new "Erasmus+" Programme and by the exchange of "best practice" in the field of woman's inclusion. In this way the young participants will give a strong contribution to the development of their rural or disadvantaged areas, in terms of inclusion and intercultural contamination.During the exchange, the young people will be involved in different activites based on the principles of non formal education (such as role plays, brainstorming, evaluation sessions, workshops) but they will also visit many "best practice" born from ideas of local Italian youths and granted by the Regional Plan funded by the European Social Fund. These best practices will stimulate the spirit of initiative of the young participants, who will be supported in their local follow up projects, during and after the youth exchange, by the group leaders and the other stakeholders involved.
