The project we are applying for is an LFEE French one week immersion course to provide training for primary school teachers across Europe. The aims of the project are detailed below;To improve methodological expertise in the teaching of French to young learnersTo provide participants with materials and ideas suitable for the teaching of French at primary levelTo develop cultural awareness and understanding of contemporary FranceTo improve participants’ competence and performance in FrenchTo use Internet and other ICT resources in your class(source: LFEE.net)We feel this project would be beneficial for our school because;- More staff will be trained in effective teaching of modern languages bringing about greater confidence- We will make strong connections with our European colleagues resulting in ongoing relationships to the benefit of both parties- We will be better equipped with physical resources and also a wider array of ideas to support all learners across all ages and stages within primary school- We will be confident in delivering the 1 plus 2 languages and integrating French into daily classroom life- We will share ideas in our own establishment and within our local cluster and community e.g. French Cafe in school hall- We will take suggestions from other schools. In particular, our French twinned school; St Nazaire.- We will have a developed understanding of European culture and will use this in our teaching practice- It will further implement the 1 plus 2 language approach as outlined by Curriculum for Excellence- It will raise awareness of European culture in a variety of ways- It will improve language proficiency amongst pupils and staff- It will broaden our knowledge of resources beneficial for our classroom environment- It will improve the use of ICT within French language teaching- It will deeply enhance the early, first and second level teaching experiences across the school- It will allow us to more confidently teach, model and observe French lessons- It will allow us to build on knowledge already received from PLL course- We will make effective use of ICT opportunities such as Language Nut and Duolingo To summarise, we feel that we would be ideal candidates for the LFEE French Immersion course. We are enthusiastic about developing our French language and improving our competency and confidence in teaching French. We are excited to experience French and European culture first hand and we look forward to this project being a continuation of our learning journey.
