Widening school horizons

The Model Experimental Junior High School of Ionidios has set as central priorities the quality development, internationalization and upgrading the educational profile and skills of its teachers. As model-experinmental school, Ionidios constantly tries to upgrade the educational methodologies and techniques, to introduce innovative programs and activities and to expand partnerships with organizations and schools at national and European level. The mobility project «Widening school horizons» has as objectives: - The training of our teachers and the acquisition of new knowledge , skills and competencies in innovative subjects such as the use of tablets in education and the organization of outdoors educational activities, but also training on cultural subjects and foreign language teaching . - The development of innovative programs and new interdisciplinary workshops and projects, capitalizing the learning outcomes of educational programs - The expansion of European cooperation, through our contact with schools abroad and the participation of the school in new European projects, through etwinning platform and Erasmus+ program. The project involves the following activities: 1. Participation of 4 teachers in the educational program "Future learning with iPads and Tablets", five days , in Helsinki, Finland. 2 . Participation of 3 teachers in the educational program "Outdoor education, landscape & outdoor venues", seven days , in Reykjavik Iceland. 3 . Participation of 3 teachers in the educational program "Discovering Renaissance Art and History in Florence", six days in Florence, Italy. 4. Participation of 1 teacher in training program "Effective Communication and Practical Teaching Skills with an Introduction to Scottish Culture", 5 days in Edinburgh, Scotland . 5. Participation of 1 teacher in the educational program "Formation de Formateurs-Attaches de cooperation et conseillers pedagogiques", 10 days in Paris , France. The direct outcome of the project is the acquisition of new and /or upgrading of knowledge , skills and competences of teachers participating. Indirect outcomes of the project are: - The school will build new bridges of communication with teachers and schools abroad , with a view to starting new European partnerships and projects - The participants will transfer the knowledge and know-how to the other teachers of the school through in-service training programs. - The teachers will develop innovative new programs, methodologies and learning materials utilizing the results of training.
