If our application for the immersion/mobility course is successful, two of our teachers will go to France this summer and two will go to Spain. Each pair has an infant and senior teacher to allow for balance and progression in terms of curriculum planning and implementation on our return. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences and findings to our school and cluster schools in West Lothian. We will be able to plan a 1+2 curriculum based on experience in French and Spanish schools and we will be able to give advice on planning, progression and resources. We will steer the new methodology in school and give support to our peers where necessary for years to come.Finally and most importantly, Modern Language will no longer be taught as an “add on.” Our children in West Lothian schools will become adept at using Modern Languages to talk about their own experiences, keeping it less contrived, relevant and ultimately fun.
