Which Europe? An excursus into history to discover the common European roots and to build up a Europe closer to its citizens

Today more than ever it is necessary that young people are fully aware of the meaning of a united Europe, a path still to be completed involving waivers peculiarities of sovereignty within each state, but also significant opportunities that require a willingness to dialogue and commitment . And then the question: "Which Europe?". Starting from these considerations, the students were led to reflect on the values that establish the rules to build a community that really represents a further social progress, and understand the importance of a united Europe, with a look to the past. The reading and the textual analysis of the book "Europe told by Jacques Le Goff" led them on this path. They have deepened the geo-history of the European continent, they have rediscovered the geo-history of their own country to socialize and compare it with others, to find out how our continent has already known in various forms, a Unitarian dimension and as the real glue, beyond economic and military strength, has always been cultural, this does not mean to have identical and overlapping cultures, but it means recognizing their common matrix, the compatibility as the fundamental values, which give the strength to overcome their differences. The historical excursus the reading of the preamble of the European Constitution has helped them to be aware of the importance of a united Europe, and the value of its roots,to think of Europe that is not only the Europe of the euro, but also Europe citizenship inclusive, of good education,of sustainable progress, of liberalization of the labor market and solidarity. The experiences of these two years have been very significant with a relapse on the development of an effective teaching / learning multilingual, on the transnational sharing of good practices and the creation of a mindset more open to dialogue and discussion.
