This is a digital storytelling project; the function of which is to work with a group of ethnic minorities who live in the North West. Half of the group reside in Derry in Northern Ireland and the other half reside in Letterkenny. last year some of the group took part in an intercultural photography project entitled "when cultures meet" and following on from this project the young people have expressed an interest in creating a short film charting the individual stories from their past and highlighting their hopes for their future. The film will compliment the series of 14 powerful images that the group created last year in order to reach out to the others, and to reflect the cultural differences that exist today. The film and the photographs together then can be used as an educatuve tool designed to puit a human face to the headlines and misinformation that exists in society in relation to ethnic minorities and the wider community. The film along with the photo exhibition will then be showcased to a cross section of young people from primary/secondary schools, colleges and community youth agencies in Letterkenny, Derry and, indeed, throughout the North West union. These shows will take place at the regional cultural centre in Letterkenny and the Verbal arts centre in Derry etc.
