WHAT'S APPRENTICESHIP IN EMILIA-ROMAGNA

Eurostat 2012 highlights that Italy is at the bottom of European ranking for the percentage of tertiary level attainment among those aged 30-34, (20,3%) while the IF2020 benchmark is 40%. Moreover, ISTAT estimates the youth unemployment rate around 39,5% (July 2013). National surveys on the graduates show a low rate of employment. Italy identifies the Higher level Apprenticeship as the main tool to favor the access to the labour market of graduates. In the Italian framework the responsibility of its application concerns the regional authority.The Emilia-Romagna region is one of the first of Italian regions to include this tool in its policy for education and labour and to develope pilot phases.The objective of the project WAPPER is to develop an accelerator effect in the dissemination of Higher level Apprenticeship, starting from regional level and spread it to the national level.Main results and impact of the WAPPER project:1. Survey identifying local enterprises potentially interested in using the Higher level Apprenticeship (envisaged impact: 100 enterprises)2. Awareness-raising campaing based on:a. Viral communication event (blogger competition) addressed to the wide community in order to introduce Higher level Apprenticeship around general public and media(envisaged impact: 5.000 internet users, 20 web national and local networks involved, higher apprenticeship among the trending topic on web)b. Set of community animation initiatives (workshop, information corner) addressed to the final users of Higher level Apprenticeship in order to increase its usage (envisaged impact: 120 enterprises, 5.000 students)3. First national Forum on Higher level Apprenticeship to stimulate the debate among stakeholders with the aim to enlarge the commitment at political level improving sustainability of youth employment and growth policies.
