“WHAT DO YOUth WANT?_ Youth survey on Youth partecipation" is a project launched by FOCSIV in the framework of the Structured Dialogue (Erasmus+ Programme), to promote active participation of young people in democratic life and foster debates around the renewed political framework in the youth field according to the Trio Presidency Priority of Youth Empowerment – Youth participation (IV Cycle).
FOCSIV aims at integrating the initiatives already launched on the thematic, deepening the knowledge on the Youth and, in particular, the experience of youth participation in Italy.
Thus far, there has been no analysis on the interests, motivations and levels of participation of young people in the democratic life in Italy, that would facilitate the adoption of strategies to promote youth participation in social and political life.
The project main objective is to contribute to find out motivation, interest and levels of democratic participation of young people aged 18-30 in Italy, offering the youth an occasion to be promoters of this survey.
According with the project proposal 40 Italian young people are identified in order to be part of the Working Group of the project, which will elaborate the content of the online consultation, will analyze the data and will produce the Final Report. The online consultation will be administer at least to 3000 young people.
The work activities will take place remotely and with two workshops in Rome. An E-book of the Final report will be presented by some spokespersons of the Working Group during a Final meeting, organized at the end of the project, attended by representatives of the institutions and the civil society.
The project approach is based on a non-formal education methodology and relies on the youth in all the creative project stages, enhancing their interests and expectations.
At the end, the project results (the FotoGallery, the Prezi presentation and PPT and the E-book) will be published online and will be accessible to all those who are interested in the topic.
The expected impacts involve all parties of the project: the 40 young people, who have an opportunity to express their voice on an issue that directly affects them and which is a priority at European level ; the youth involved in the online consultation (at least 3000) will be aroused on the topic of Youth participation and Structural Dialogue and will be involved in future initiatives of active participation and information campaign on existing initiatives on the topic (in particular those in the framework of Structural Dialogue); youth works and organizers will improve their knowledge of the youth field and their ability to interact with them; finally, the decision-makers will have data and concrete tips to direct policy reforms enhancing Youth Participation towards real young people’s interests and needs in Italy.
