Weiterentwicklung und Qualitätssicherung der Fremdsprachenförderung
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

In order to improve and modernise its syllabi of the foreign language departments ‘Maximilian Kolbe Gymnasium’ has applied for funding of a teachers’ training course in Great Britain. This activity is part of the project '(further) development and quality enhancement of foreign language promotion'. By participating in the programme the school also hopes to find new ways to encourage communication and cooperation between members of our school and members of schools from other European countries. Thus creating opportunities to improve cultural awareness among staff and students. Therefore, it is a big step towards the internationalisation of the school. Beginning the project this year ‘Maximilian Kolby Gymnasium’ will start by sending one teacher to participate in the course ‘Active Methodology’. It is planned to expand the activities by sending a greater number of teachers to various courses in the future. The course will be held at the Edinburgh School of English, which is a member of English UK and is accredited by the British Council. The main objective of the course is to enable the participant to discover the modern practical principles and practices involved in teaching English as a Second Language. The participant will experience a variety of teaching techniques, materials, devices and procedures designed to help students acquire language. There is a focus on current methodologies and practical teaching skills that the participants of the course will evaluate for effectiveness, and also discuss ways of adapting these to fit in with different teaching contexts. The knowledge the teacher will acquire in the course will not only be applied in the classroom. It is planned to incorporate new methodologies and teaching skills in the newly developed syllabi of the foreign language departments at ‘Maximilian Kolbe Gymnasium’. Consequently, a broad range of members of the school community will profit from the participation in the Erasmus+ programme.
