Weiterentwicklung des fremdsprachlichen Profils in der Studienstufe
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Development of the school`s bilingual profile in the upper school The school`s project aims at systematically developing and intensifying our bilingual profile in the upper school and at linking it more closely to a European context politically and historically. By increasing the lessons in our profil thus giving it more time, we particularly hope to be able to make young adults realize the importance of European political participation and interaction. We therefore intend to send one teacher to a teacher training course at Cambridge University focusing on modern European history and politics. We hope to acquire new ideas in terms methodology and language skills as well as an intensified historical/political understanding. Upon the colleague`s return, she will report back her results to her bilingual colleagues at school as well as communicate with other bilingual schools in Hamburg. As Sophie-Barat-Schule, we are part of the international Sacred-Heart network building on values such as ethnic variety and tolerance. Our students come from more than 50 nations, which makes us very aware of the importance of ethnic variety, mutual understanding and tolerance. The teacher training course offered at Cambridge also relies and focuses on the importance of today`s politics including international relations. Hence, our project not only intends to strengthen and develop our bilingual profile in the upper school but also hopes to broaden our students` horizons by profiting from the colleague`s newly acquired lingustic and methodological skills.
