Web based PBL training to improve headmasters skills and promote an ‘innovative school’

As a result of the school autonomy and increased financing chances,the headmasters' workload has expanded-OECD Improving School Leadership-08.Notably, EU high schools have enhanced their research/innovation actions and EU networks among schools.It's becoming crucial an ongoing updating of headmasters’managing skills through in-service trainings,self-study solutions.The project addresses these needs and the Comenius priority:"to develop an approach to provide headmasters with practical training in school management".It aims to design and test the AHEAD didactic model that combines a web based PBL-Problem-Based Learning approach with a peer training method to promote the ongoing updating of headmasters’practical skills.The main outcomes are:AHEAD DIDACTIC MODEL for headmasters’practical skills acquisition on building a team able to carry out innovative/research activitiesE-LEARNING PLATFORM AND PBL REPOSITORY as web learning/collaborative setting for headmasters.It includes an e-learning platform and a PBL repository(virtual training library)that will host the headmasters’cases/scenarios based on their real experienceSELF-LEARNING TOOLKIT FOR HEADMASTERS to promote their skills' regular updating exploiting the AHEAD model among EU schools and applying a peer-training approachThe impact on target group is:flexible accessibility to training chances thanks to the self-learning/peer training approachesongoing updating of headmasters’skills providing them the needed tools-the self-learning toolkit and the PBL repository always-on line available and easy to implementformal/non formal training promotion thanks to the chance to uploading headmasters real problems on the repository,using them for improving skills based on the exchange of points of view among headmastersThe impact on EU educational sector is the encouraging of in-service training for headmasters, schools participation in EU programmes,better use of funds to improve curricula and carry out research
