"Was kümmern mich die anderen?" - "Why should I care for others?"

In 2002 youthworkers in the City of Heinola, Finland, had the idea of call to life an international youth exchange with the partner country district Peine and the partner city Karlshamn in Sweden. Until 2004 a youth exchange took place on various topics with more than 30 young people from Finland, Sweden and Germany rotating held in the three countries. The district Peine concluded another Partnership with the district Opole in Poland and since 2005 are also polish young people involved in the youth exchange. In 2014 the exchange took place for the 11th time. This year in Germany. Eight young people and two leaders from each countirie met for a week to know each other and to work on a common theme. This year's theme "Why should I care for others" was designed to encourage participants to think about their daily life and further to think about peole in their own country, other countries and the EU community. They should see directly what cooperation and community could make possible. The focus of this exchange lied at learning by the method of theater education and experimental learning. The aim was that young people take the intention of the exchange home in their everyday life and benefit in their thinking and acting themselves and also their surroundings in future.
