WALKWAYS: Openings to equal opportunities in employment (WALKWAYS)

Walkways is aimed at increasing the rate of employment of people with intellectual disabilities by providing chronologically appropriate employability interventions i.e. creating pathways to employment. Project Aims Equal Rights. To deliver a project that gives individuals facing significant barriers to participating in mainstream society (Target Group), a pathway towards accessing their equal right to meaningful employment. Enabling Participation. To conduct a project that addresses the development of employment opportunities within contexts and organisations that are appropriate to individuals within the TG and their abilities. Sustainability. To encourage statutory provision for the TG to embrace the aspirations and abilities of the individual as well as their care needs. Support Skills. To deliver a project that provides those who support the TG with the necessary skills to help realise the employment potential of the individuals they have responsibilities for and to provide the required levels of support. Person Centred. To conduct a project that places the needs of the individual at the forefront of service development and implementation so as to deliver a highly relevant service to each individual in accordance with the principle of Person Centred Prescribing.
