Search for European Projects

W drodze do nowoczesnej, europejskiej edukacji
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The John Paul II Primary School is located in the countryside. There are 283 students and 36 teachers. Among them there are students of different nationality and religion. There are students from Moldavia, Ukraine, Belarus and Germany. Our school, thanks to the high results of the graduation tests from the last years, has been acknowledged in the whole country program as “the Reliable School”. Our school has not participated in any international projects yet. That is why our participation in Erasmus project is so valuable for us.The goals we want to achieve by participating in the project called “Towards modern and European education” are strictly connected with the needs of our school and its teachers and are mostly concentrated on improving the knowledge of English, promoting an open attitude towards different cultures and religions, implementing innovations into our teaching methods and putting an emphasis on a European and international dimension of our school. There are 8 teachers, who will be participating in the project (7 teachers will be taking language courses and 1 teacher will be attending a methodology training). All these teachers are very open-minded, hardworking, absolutely devoted to their work and aware of a necessity of knowing English in order to establish international partnerships. These teachers have been taking part in all sorts of different trainings here in Poland and they have been sharing the knowledge with other teachers. All of them teach different subjects at different grades. Thanks to that, their cooperation will have a wider impact on our students. The teachers willing to participate in the project are: an English teacher who is also a coordinator of the project, a Russian teacher, a deputy executive head teacher, who teaches also Art and Music, a I-III classes teacher who is also qualified to teach English, two I-III classes teachers, one of them is a speech therapist, a PE teacher who is a school counsellor as well, a teacher at an after-school club who can also teach English and History). The other teachers who will not participate in the language courses in the UK will be also engaged in realization of the project in our school. The students from classes IV-VI and I-III as well will be taking part in various tasks regarding the project. We expect that participation of our teachers in the project will have a positive impact not only on our school and other teachers, but also on the whole local community. It will be the first international project which will be implemented in our neighborhood and it will encourage others to look for new solutions and challenges. We want to share our knowledge and experience with others, that is why we have planned to organize so called “open classes”, teachers’ meetings and workshops for children. We hope that by doing so we will present new teaching methods and approaches which can be implemented by other teachers into their everyday work. Information about the project will be placed on our school website, Facebook, the Municipal office webpage and at the local library. We are absolutely convinced that the experience we are going to acquire will develop our school. The knowledge of English and new approaches in methodology will help us to implement new methods and techniques of teaching young students. We hope to develop an international partnership, to implement the elements of CLIL into curriculum and to improve our IT skills. The participation in the project, the courses in the UK and the activities planned afterwards, will help our school to be a modern and open-minded facility. The school will have an international dimension and a European character. The project will be the first step into implementing new solutions and changes into our local society. And in order to achieve these goals we would like to take part in the project “Towards modern and European education".
