The Business Academy (OA) is a secondary vocational school based in Topoľčany, founded in 1968. The school has long-term experience in the field of education and is focused on preparation of students for execution of specific economic activities OA tries to find a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical skills and supports the training in the real working environment. OA as the applicant organisation organized learners mobility in cooperation with the partner organisation ADC College based in London. ADC College is a professional development and language tuition organisation. It has been involved in vocational and professional training for more than 20 years. The Objectives: The objective of the project "Education for Life" was to link theory with practice and world of work, to enable students to be involved in a mobility stay abroad. Students were supposed to intern in companies in the field of Business and Administration in London, and thus get new experience in a different working and language environment, gain insight into the world of work in one of the biggest cities in Europe and use English language in real-life situations. The project was supposed to support the idea of multiculturalism in students and strengthen their self-confidence and self-reliance as well. Thanks to the project the participants will become active in the labour market in Slovakia and in the EU countries. The project was also a motivation tool as the academic results are one of the selection criteria. The number and profile of the participants: 15 students and 2 accompanying persons in the months of October and November 2015. All the participants were the students of the 6317M field of study – business academy. In their studies they gain theoretical knowledge in the subjects such as economics, accountancy, administration, correspondence and ICT. Later they can apply their theoretical knowledge in training firms and during their training in companies in Topolcany. The regular English language classes are supported by Business English. The graduate will gain theoretical knowledge and will obtain basic practical skills in the field of their study. The participants will be selected on the basis of their interest, academic results and language skills. The level of students´ language skills will be evaluated by entrance test, interview and essay. Description of activities: Applicant organisation is responsible for: Selection of the students based on their interest, academic results and language skills. Language tuition in the form of a course focused on Business English and speaking skills. A lecture on cultural differences and possible dangers of travelling and staying abroad. Initial informative meeting for the participants and their parents. Gaining the necessary details about students in order to provide the best placement in a company and family. Transport to and from London. Social security, mentoring and monitoring of the participants provided by two accompanying persons. Publishing an article about the activity in the press and video clip on the Internet. Evaluating the contribution of the activity via the questionnaire for the participants and the accompanying persons. Organizing a lecture and discussion for students and teachers involved in secondary vocational education. ADC Colege is responsible for: The placement of the participants in companies in London according to their skills, abilities and field of study – business and administration. Informing the participants about the training details and their tasks during their training. Arranging the placement in host families and public transport in London. Providing: -induct seminar for the participants on the day of arrival. -mentoring and monitoring of the participants during their training. -ADC College certificate. Evaluating students´ professional and personal development in cooperation with partner companies. Methodology: - questionnaires - interview - record of the training - report on the mobility Description of the results and impact of the project and the potential longer term benefits: Thanks to the mobility students have developed their professional knowledge, skills, competences and experience. Their self-confidence and self-reliance has been strengthened. The project has given the students a chance for a better placement in the labour market in their home country or EU countries where there is a demand for competent staff with language skills. The mobility activity has moderated the participants´ worries to travel abroad for work and broadened their future career prospects and contributed to tolerance and respect for different cultures. The chance to take part in the mobility will motivate other students to have better study results. The school´s reputation will be enhanced and so will the interest of prospective students in studying at Business Academy, a school which will prepare quality and competent graduates for the labour market.
