At our school we are aiming at giving the children the opportunity to use the English language in order to communicate with other pupils at an exchange school abroad by setting up an email friendship – not only inside but also outside the lessons at school. This will motivate the pupils to widen their linguistic proficiency in the field of communication. Our aim is to improve primary school pupils’ proficiency in English and also their willingness to learn a foreign language by providing them with a motivating learning environment. This is why one of our teachers should take the opportunity to improve her linguistic skills in Ireland and also to collect ideas, how and within which limits an email correspondence can be set up with fairly young pupils. Our aim is to establish an online communication project with an exchange school abroad. Pupils will have the opportunity to get to know each other and will be given concrete modules and task (ideas taken from eTwinning), which is supposed to motivate them to communicate with pupils from the exchange school in the English language not only inside the lessons but also outside. Our school is hoping that the teacher who is taking part in the course will gain an insight into strategies on how to establish such a project, so that the experience made in Ireland will help to make our English lessons more motivating, both for pupils and teachers.
