The project: Aiming to improve education at Homburgisches Gymnasium Nümbrecht concerning individualism and self-guidance, we want to support internationalism and integration in the English classroom. In order to do so we want to improve teaching methods and didactics for the foreign language classroom. Communication and acceptance among students as well as towards students and teachers from other countries will be supported accordingly. We want to expand existing exchange programs as well as broaden the horizon by establishing new exchange contacts. Students will be able to develop broad understanding of the globalized world and will improve their communication skills as well as developing a deeper acceptance of other cultures. The participants: All four participants are characterized by their interest in intercultural contact and their commitment in the existing exchange programs. Activities: The participants are able learn about the new educational methods, modern media by taking part in the advanced educational training program in 2016 and 2017. Furthermore they can improve their language skills. They learn how to teach these modern methods as well as how to use the new media in the classroom. These new skills will be included into a pilot project and will be tested in Year 8. The results will be evaluated, modified and included into the English curricula.Long-term aims and results: We expect to motivate students to improve their communication skills and to use the English language besides the classroom environment by offering them an improved English language teaching. Therefore they will develop a deeper understanding of different cultures and will be better equipped to live in a globalized world.
