Voneinander lernen in Landwirtschaft und Tourismus
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Especially at a time when young people face the economic crisis and lack future prospects, many think about getting back to a more natural way of life in an intact environment. Agricultural colleges and companies in Austria , Finland and Ireland, whose students mainly come from farms, try to ensure their economic survival in rural areas through their education. Creating new jobs and new sources of revenue is now very important to adapt to the economical situation. Students of the LLA Weitau, in addition to their basic education in agriculture and home economics, are taught a broad range of commercial , linguistic , social and ecological skills and thus benefit from a high level of general education.During their vocational training at the LLA Weitau, students have to do a compulsory internship between the 2nd and 3rd year. This internship has to be completed at a minimum distance from their home town mainly so that students may learn new work techniques and approaches and develop empathy for otherness. The project should be focused on efficiency , competitiveness , and the development of manual work. Food-producing , refining and marketing represent core aspects of the rural environment. In our case, the project is also about its touristic significance and the opportunity for the participants to make direct experiences and to exchange these.Communication throughout the project is performed in English, which contributes to the improvement of foreign language skills, especially in the students´ special fields. The Internship should contribute to the development of the students´social skills and to their disposition to mobility.
