Von Europa lernen
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The adult education centre of the state of Styria, Retzhof Castle, is the first and currently the only fully accessible education center in Austria. Our program enables also people with disabilities the opportunity to use the entire infrastructure of our house independently and participate in our seminars and courses. The Retzhof has the first accessible outdoor area (including the high ropes course), not only for adults but also for school classes and youth groups. In addition to our educational offers for the local population, we also operate cross-border education, EU projects and have positioned ourselves well as an international oriented house. We are an important partner as well as for numerous regional and national institutions in the implementation of cultural and educational events. The project "Learning from Europe" shall promote a strengthening of the international orientation of Retzhof and provide an insight into practices, policies and systems of adult education in other European countries. In addition to the expansion of the international network it has the aim to strengthen the skills of educational staff through mobilities. These include the management capacities for strategic planning and the optimization of the processes of the institution and the acquisition of important experiences in order to develop the quality of each activity of the individuals. Very important for the internationally oriented work is a good intercultural competence, which will be expanded by planned mobilities. The issue of recognition of diversity and inclusion is central in Retzhof. It is important to always educate, to learn the latest innovations and be able to take further steps. In the future Retzhof would like to focus more on the subject of Community Education and thereby strengthen the competence of disseminating information. The Retzhof aims to establish itself in the future as an information hub of the region and for other community partners and share know -how on the subject of education, active citizenship, living together in diversity, Europe and accessibility/inclusion supply.
