Volunteers connecting Poland and Germany through youth exchanges
Start date: Jan 1, 2015,
End date: Mar 31, 2016
For over sixty years, ijgd e.V. has been organizing short-term and longer-term voluntary services in Germany and abroad. In our regional office in Magdeburg, we have a working team of 17 persons, including one volunteer. As of February 2015, we would be happy to receive a new volunteer with an interest in international exchange and especially the German-Polish relations.
The voluntary engagement of young people who contribute their own ideas to different projects has been one of the main principles of our organization since the beginning. During his/her stay with us, the volunteer will have the chance to be involved in and support different projects in the field of national and international youth work, such as the implementation of educational seminars and information sessions in schools, the creation of flyers or updating the website. On the other hand, he/she will have the opportunity to develop and carry out an own project in the field of German-Polish relations (for example, a youth exchange). He/she will be supported in this by one of our most experienced colleagues. In addition to this, the volunteer will be invited to participate in internal trainings (e.g. a group leader training) so he/she will be qualified for his/her tasks.
The volunteer will get the chance to develop competencies in the field of international youth work (project management, working in an intercultural team, being a group leader of international youth groups, etc.) which can be useful for his/her future career. As hosting organization, we hope to strengthen the German-Polish relations and to intensify the cooperation with our Polish partners to be able to conduct further youth projects in the German-Polish context in the future.
