Volunteers: Connecting Neighbours
Start date: May 26, 2011,

This short-term EVS, lasting for 2 months, is focused on intensive learning how to write, prepare, carry ou,t and evaluate youth projects on the example of the international work camps in Russia. The volunteer will have a chance to experience the whole work camp season: from preparation to evaluation. The international work camps lasting for two weeks are situated in the places of Russian cultural heritage associated with the names of Lomonosov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Roerich etc. Usually there are 7 international participants in each work camp. At the beginning of the EVS, the host organisation, "Mir Tesen", organises a camp leader training where the volunteer (next work camp leader) get trained on several topics like intercultural learning, motivation, group dynamics, conflict resolution etc. In the second part of the EVS, the volunteer will take part in the preparation of the work camps (communication with partner organisations and participants by e-mail, phone and directly). Then he/she will be able to go to a work camp to look behind the scenes and understand what needs to be done before and during work camps. After the theoretical and practical preparation an mid-term evaluation, the EVS volunteer will go to one of the work camps as a camp leader to gain his own experience. During the work camp the EVS volunteer as a coordinator is also responsible for leisure activities and group life in general. The third part of the project will include the evaluation of the work camp lead by the volunteer and writing his/her own work camp project. The EVS will end with an evaluation of the work done and new knowledge and skills achieved during the EVS.
