Volunteerism brings us together!
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Feb 28, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project named "Volunteerism brings us together" is a youth exchange project between several European countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland and Romania) that have below average number of young people included in volunteering activities (compared to the EU average). Youth association "Youth in EU" from Šibenik, Croatia, has a vast experience in the field of volunteerism and in promotion of volunteerism in Sibenik - Knin county. Partner organizations that are involved in this project are also active in promoting the volunteerism in their community. The goal of project is promoting the volunteerism as a social value in countries with below average rate of involvement of young people in voluntary activities. Project participants are 22 young unemployed persons from partner countries. Partner organizations are going to actively participate in project activities and play an important role in all project's phases (preparing the material, spreading the acquired knowledge to other participants, and disseminate the project results in their own countries). We will pay attention that at least 10 participants are long-term unemployed persons and we will ensure that there is a equal representation of both genders. Project is designed as a seven-month project starting on 01.08.2016. and ending on 28.2.2017. In order to facilitate the organization and implementation of project activities, as well as better control of the project, the project is segmented into three different phases. (preparation phase, implementation phase and phase of evaluation, reporting and dissemination of results). The specific objective of the proposed project is to introduce young unemployed people with the opportunities they can acquire by volunteering. By exchanging their experiences they will get a valid insight into the state of volunteerism in all countries participating in the proposed project.Workshops and lectures on the topic of volunteering will be held as part of the main activities in Sibenik, and will be created and run by the participants themselves. They will use the methods of non-formal learning (brainstorming, group work, sharing of experiences among the participants). Hosting organization will make sure that facilities in which they will be carried out main activities are adequately equipped. As a part of the main activities, we are planning to visit local NGOs and other organizations that can serve as an examples of good practices in the implementation of voluntary activities and to help participants directly acquainted with the methods of work with volunteers in Croatia. All participants upon completion of project activities get Youthpass certificates.Expected results of the proposed project are:- Successfully conducted informal education for 22 participants on the topic of volunteerism, after which they would be able to design by themselves, organize and carry out a voluntary action or initiative;- Raised awareness of volunteering among young unemployed people;- Created newsletter that will be forwarded to a minimum of 300 CSOs in partner countries, and will contain a description of the project and activities, methods used in the main activities and learning outcomes;- Created brochure with a reflections of the project made by the participants and the results that have been achieved through the participation of the participants in the project. The results of the project concerning the target group (unemployed young people) are:- Greater awareness of volunteering and opportunities for volunteering in the European Union,- increased desire and motivation for volunteering,- Improved knowledge of English language; - Increased intercultural awareness. The potential long-term benefits of the project are increased capacities of organizations since it is expected that at least some of the participants after completion of the project start to be actively involved in the work of the organization and through the volunteering they will contribute to the quality of implementation of the various activities of these organizations. Furthermore, organizations gain experience of conducting the project, which includes international cooperation with other organizations and thus will gain new partnerships and friendships that potentially in the future can be the basis for new initiatives and projects that will contribute to the development of quality of life in communities where such projects are being held. Participants will, through their future volunteering work, acquire working habits and improve their knowledge and skills that will make them more competitive in the labor market and allow them to find a job more easier, but also through volunteer work provide a good example to their peers and thus encourage them to those involved to volunteer and contribute to the number of volunteer
