Name of the project “Volunteering for better tomorrow” reflects on creating a conditions for personal and local development of youth through volunteering, making it a sustainable mechanism for improving the living standards in local community. Project is cooperation between organizations that are dealing and promoting volunteering as a necessary tool in their work. Five countries are included in this project – Germany, Serbia, Norway, Greece and Macedonia. Each delegation will have six representatives, chosen by their boards, one group leader and five participating volunteers which makes it in total 30 participants of the project. Each participant is already actve in the field of volunteering and has a knowledge and experience with voluntary services and programs. The idea about this youth exchange came as a means to communicate and cooperate between organizations that provide voluntary services in different parts of Europe, with different backgrounds and tools to realize their voluntary activities. The project brings closer the systems of volunteering from different parts of Europe, where Western Europe meets the system of volunteering from Balkan region and Southern Europe, making it a unique and diverse approach to the topic of volunteering, deeply to be explored, researched and learned. The objectives of the project are to work close and together in creating quality voluntary service standards for future work (individual or cooperative) and promote it with various tools and media.During the youth exchange, participants will meet to present themselves, their organizations and their work to others. They will exchange their experience through deep discussions and team workshops prepared by the partner organizations. Through interactive and dynamic but also field work, participants will learn and give useful and practical knowledge and information necessary for the project´s development. Combining the creativity and knowledge gained during the exchange, participants will design the multimedia material to promote and support the project and its goals. Work program is followed by rich leisure activity program for participants to get to know themselves outside the work, get to know the local area and it´s cultural, historical and everyday life. In every aspect of the project, each partner contributes equally to the overall realization of the youth exchange. Special parts of the exchange are also intercultural evenings, an opportunity for each partner to present the country of origin, its culture, customs, traditions and interesting facts. This youth exchange opens doors for many possibilities between partner organizations and others who are engaged directly or indirectly to this project (such as local government, relevant institutions, groups and individuals). Volunteering with great knowledge, sharing it and using it in praxis, connecting with the other young people on local, national and international level with promotion of peer to peer education, gaining new perspectives and experience in vast areas of work provided by volunteering, learning and improving language are some of the benefits of this project. This way, volunteers will be feel self-empowered, their self-awareness will rise through experience and direct engage on what are the capacities for creating a better and quality life conditions in their local community. This project also supports the interconnection between formal and non-formal learning and is envision to show learning as a lifelong process that is greatly happening through volunteering.
