Volunteering and Exploring Finnish Nature at Koli National Park
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This EVS project "Volunteering and Exploring Finnish Nature in Koli National Park" will give a unique possibility for 4 European volunteers to work and learn in the middle of the most beautiful Finnish nature. The project takes place in the Koli National Park, situated in Lieksa in the Eastern Finland. There will be volunteers arriving in two shifts: volunteers from Latvia and Ukraine arrive in August 2015 for 8 months EVS period and volunteers from Spain and Hungary arrive in April 2016 for 12 months period. The volunteers will have various tasks, for example customer service tasks at the Nature Centre Ukko and volunteering on nature-conservation or maintenance work in the national park area. The volunteers will be able to conduct small development projects for the nature centre, for example related to media issues. We hope to see that through volunteering in a national park, the young volunteers will have a growing awareness on environmental and nature conservation issues, which will hopefully lead for increasing activeness in the related issues also after the EVS period.
