Voluntariado Ambiental en Doñana

1. Context: Doñana National Park (Natura 2000 network), is one of the most important natural areas of Europe for its important natural values. However, there are threats that make it necessary to work for its conservation. This involves working with community associations and local authorities, but also the involvement of European citizenship. The work of youth volunteering is a crucial part of this process.2. Aims: The aim of the Project is to enable European young people to participate in the environmental volunteer program of SEO/Birdlife in Doñana, living together with the local community, characterized by culture and traditions deeply rooted and working side by side in a local volunteer team.2.1.- Promote formation in values: interculturality, value of cultural diversity, exchange of experiences, mutual enrichment, respect and tolerance.2.2. Develop an educational experience that will provide the volunteers with a set of effective tools, both personally and professionally, and an interesting and enriching experience. 2.3. The implementation of the communication plan and the collaboration with local organizations and dissemination of Erasmus + Program between local administrations, will enable us to achieve the objectives of the project and future cooperation alliances, increasing the possibilities’ for young participation and European consciousness.3. Work methodology: Scheduled activities will take place inside the National Park and surrounding areas of great environmental and socio-cultural value. Through the development of various activities (conservation, awareness, promotion of ecotourism, education and monitoring), and through days of knowledge, EVS volunteers will have the opportunity to experience the cultural richness and secular traditions of Doñana and Andalusia. Volunteers will participate in training seminars, which include detailed information about all the activities in which they are going to collaborate, as well as its social and natural environment. Volunteers will develop their own work included in the learning plan.The creativity and implication of SVE volunteers will by stimulated, making them part of design, development, evaluation and dissemination of activities, through teamwork . The language learning will be strengthened through monitoring of the tutor, by means of learning goals appropriate to the duration of stay.The volunteers involved in the project are Ilona Chaichenko (Ucrania) and Milena Dimic (Serbia). Both are young and highly motivated volunteers, showing special interest in the conservation and study of the environment. Willingness to cooperate, personal initiative, a positive attitude to collaborate in fieldwork, tolerance, respect for the customs and culture of the other volunteers and the local community, with a good sense of humor.4. Expected impact• Local, national and international volunteers who support SEO/BirdLife activities and collaborating entities working in Doñana, will develop an awareness of EU youth programmes, interculturality and European citizenship.• Associations and local authorities will have a greater awareness of European project and the opportunity to include in their strategies the youth international work.5.- Long-term results.The EVS project will increase the impact of SEO/BirdLife activities in Doñana, generating a multiplier effect that will benefit the conservation of Doñana natural values.
