Start date: Dec 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Corkscrew 28 Day Program VET Learners The Corkscrew UK programme aims to develop 75 learners from our selected VET institutes in Croatia in innovation, initiative, entrepreneurship and core employability skills. The program aims to address key strategies outlined by the European Commission in the movement of Youth across the EU. The program will develop entrepreneurial mindset through innovational training elements and vocational learning experiences. Learners will experience real time business projects working alongside startups and established entrepreneurs to develop employability skills from communication to project management. They will also receive vocational training on how to create and launch a business as they develop technical skills from website creation to online social media marketing. Learners will develop general business knowledge, confidence, initiative and an entrepreneurial mind set. The overall objectives are to equip learners with a new set of skills not previously gained through academic experiences or previous vocational opportunities. Our objectives also maintain on developing more opportunities for learners through increased employability and potential self-employment through the creation of further startup businesses. The skills learnt will have a long term impact on their view on business and their own professional and personal identity and also the opportunity of new business creation on the learners return to Croatia. VET Staff We aim to send 6 VET staff to join a period of 7 days on the Corkscrew UK programme. The selected staff will join the initial 1st week which is predominantly focused on developing creativity through entrepreneurial challenges and innovation. The staff will shadow Corkscrew mentors and staff and learn new innovative approaches to teaching business startup and employability skill improvement in a vocational environment. The staff will develop their own understanding and confidence in replicating similar entrepreneurial environments on their return to Croatia and their own establishments. Corkscrew will share materials and knowledge to enable the most impact during the 7 day period. The long term benefits may be seen in more innovative approaches to teaching and training methods within domestic VET institutes and new techniques implemented within vocational settings. IEP 10 Week Internships The IEP in Ireland will provide meaningful internship programmes in Ireland for 10 VET learners in duration of 10 weeks (70 days). Learners will work closely with Internship mentors to make sure their training period is providing the best opportunity in developing the core skills addressed before departure. The 10 week Internships will focus more specifically in providing a clear work experience in their area of study, it will further develop academic experiences and allow practical growth and increased core employability skills such as project management, communication, teamwork and relevant technical skills. For both programmes the learners will also have the opportunity in developing their linguistic skills within business environments that will improve overall employability not just in Croatia, but in the EU and globally. We feel that combined with the advancement of initiative, innovation, language and employability strengths both our targeted programmes will have a long term impact on selected learners.
