“Vocational practice in Italy and new horizons for young workers”

Context: With this application for the VET learner mobility project - Erasmus Plus, the Public Vocational Training Center Galatsiou – PVTC Galatsiou (applicant organization) is submitting its proposal for Vocational Practice in Italy for the students of the Center. The project will be based in Sicily, Italy, where a partnership has been established with the organization ‘A ROCCA’ (partner organization). The participants will work for two months as interns in positions relevant to their studies in companies and organizations based in Sicily. Objectives: The core objectives of the project are to improve the students’ employability and the promotion of the sense of membership in the EU territory. With respect to the values of the European Union (EU) additionally the following objectives are being set: the exchange of good practices and knowledge with companies and organizations operating abroad, the strengthening of entrepreneurship, the improvement of employability to individuals with fewer possibilities and individuals of low income and finally the promotion of Life-long Learning. Number and profile of participants: Eligible participants will be students of all faculties of the PVTC Galatsiou who have completed their studies and will have obtained the Certificate of Training Completion. Fourteen students in total will participate in the project, five of which will be individuals with fewer possibilities for employability. Description of activities: The applicant organization will be responsible for the management of the project, the selection and the supply of information to the applicants in collaboration to the partner organization, the monitoring and the final assessment of the project. The partner organization will be responsible for providing housing and work places within companies and organizations in Sicily for the participants, the regular supervision, and the collection of all data necessary for the writing of the final report. In addition, the partner organization is responsible for the issuing the final certificates and for spreading the results. Methodology to be used: The applicant organization is committed to provide general and financial management of the project with high quality standards. The partner organization is committed by signing the Letter of Intent, to provide all necessary services mentioned above. The two organizations will collaborate to achieve all objectives according to the Private Agreement which defines all conditions of the mobility project and will be signed immediately after the project is approved. In addition, at the arrival of the participants to Italy, training agreements will be signed. Finally contracts will be signed between the students and the companies/ organizations. Results/impact: All parties involved in the project are expected to be positively impacted. Students are expected to improve in professional, personal, social and cultural level. The applicant and partner organization will gain experience in accomplishing European projects and will establish good relations for future cooperation. Companies and organizations accepting the students will increase their productivity, gain knowledge which will be transmitted from Greece through the students and create bonds with professionals of businesses relevant to their area of interest. Finally, local communities will be benefited by the exchange of cultural data and strengthening of relations. Longer term benefits: Amongst the longer term benefits are the promotion of motives for mobility in the future, the establishment of collaboration between Member States of the EU and the tolerance towards different cultures. The participation of people with fewer opportunities for employment will send a message of the need for improvement in this regard. The necessity of work experience abroad will be recognized through this action.
