Vocational and Professional Education CLIL Self-Development Appraisal System

The project will develop Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), in which a subject or part of a subject, in VET, is taught through a foreign language. A self-development appraisal system for teachers/trainers and administrators in VET will be further developed to identify core needs in the area of teaching and learning through the medium of a foreign language, with the aim of achieving best practice. The project's aims will be achieved through the medium of a virtual learning environment. VET teachers and administrators will be able to explore key decisions, resources and development strategies for maximising success in teaching through a foreign language. Users will be offered 'individual paths' through a diagnostic e-learning environment by which they can measure their performance against other local and/or European practitioners. The virtual system will provide users with an action plan on how to develop or continue best practice in CLIL for VET. The project will result in: a web-based virtual learning environment for delivering self-assessment in CLIL for VET; a system handbook providing technical support for use of the web-based self-assessment tool; a disseminator package involving the internet, brochures, articles, presentations and conferences and a country-specific certification network with the long-term aim of validating quality assurance in VET institutions with regard to the delivery of CLIL. The self-assessment appraisal system and handbook will be available in EN, DE, FI, FR, HU, IT & RO.
