VLAGANJE V RAZVOJ - PROJEKTI MOBILNOSTI
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Nurses who have finished the secondary school technical programme of Health Care are faced with the decline of employability. At Jesenice Secondary School we have been striving to improve this current situation. Another especially burning issue in the region of Gorenjska is a growing number of people incapable of taking care of themselves in terms of the basic life activities and need special care. Their relatives often find themselves in distress either because many of them do not have financial resources for institutional care or they would like to take care of relatives on their own, but are not properly qualified. One of the key aims in solving the first problem mentioned is standardisation of educational programmes and by doing so standardisation of competences and vocational qualification of our students in Europe. International exchanges will enable us to establish a good flow of information in technical and pedagogical areas. Moreover, our students can gain a higher quality of technical knowledge and qualifications and will consequently be more able to compete in home and foreign labour market. We will focus on achieving the following aims:1. Standardisation of catalogues of standards of knowledge.2. Rationalisation and optimisation of organising practical education and practical training.3. Rationalisation and optimisation of the grading system in practical education and the fourth subject of Poklicna Matura examination.4. Better language competencies of teachers and students, which leads to better internationalisation.5. Introduction of a new educational programme for lay health carers.Regarding the problem of families lacking qualification for health care of relatives, we are planning to introduce a programme of lifelong learning for lay carers. We have set up a working group whose aim is to improve teachers' and students' competences, encourage mobility of students and lifelong learning. The working group is led by the head teacher Mrs Andreja Vehar Jerman and her assistant Mrs Monika Lotrič. One of the group members is an English teacher, the contact person of the project and coordinator with the partner organisation. She prepares students for the final English examination at Poklicna matura examination and trains students for efficient communication with foreigners in clinical setting. The other three members of the group are health care staff members. Apart from teaching they have other tasks at school, e.g. a member of the school final examination committee, the organiser of practical education and training for students, the head of the health care staff members and head of all teachers who teach in the programme of Health Care.We have established contact with a partner school in Spain (I.E.S. Santa Aurelia). We are planning to carry out an exchange of teachers in the programme of Health Care in the duration of one week. In this time we would like to take part in practical education and training of students as well as grading of students' work. During consultation we wish to obtain information regarding practical education and practical training, final examination, catalogues of standards of knowledge and educational programme for lay health carers. We would like to find out if a similar programme of lifelong learning already exists in the partner school or in their country. In case there are needs for such programme in their country as well and it has not been implemented yet, we will suggest cooperation in establishing a joint programme for lay carers. In a one-week mobility we expect:- to get an insight into the educational system of our partner school, especially in the areas of practical education and training,- to get acquainted with the differences in catalogues of standards of knowledge and the final examination as well as competences of (male) nurses,- to prepare the foundation for a joint educational programme for lay carers or get an insight into their existing programme for lay carers,- to obtain information of good working examples in technical and pedagogical areas,- to improve the knowledge of foreign languages for general and specific purposes,- to establish long-lasting professional relations with teachers from our partner school. We will strive for the new acquaintances to become permanent cooperation, which would contribute to improving the quality of educational programme of Health Care. By standardising programmes on a larger scale, we will reach compatibility, higher mobility of students and competitiveness in the labour market within the European Union. With support of the school management, we will encourage other school staff to participate as well. By doing so, we would like to approach our educational programmes to European education standards as much as possible.
