Vivre et travailler au Royaume Uni / (Living and working in the United Kingdom)
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This Erasmus+ project, which title is 'Living and working in the UK' is the 6th mobility project our vocational school has organized with financial backing from the European Union. This project consisted in creating and handing out a bilingual booklet (French and English) titled 'LIVING AND WORKING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM' to promote mobility of European French or English speakers towards the United Kingdom by providing information regarding culture and habits (meals, housing, transports ...) and regarding the world of work in the UK (types of contracts, holidays, social protection...). In the frame of our project, we organized two mobility periods : - From 23 March to 17 April 2015 (4 weeks). This first period concerned 5 beneficiaries, 2 girls ans 3 boys aged between 16 and 17 years old. Four of them were preparing a Technical A-Level in Commerce, and the fifth one was preparing a Technical A-Level in Services (French acronym : ARCU). All the beneficiaries of the mobility were in the second of a two-year course. - From 7 March to 1 April 2016 (4 weeks). This second period concerned 5 beneficiaries, 5 girls who were preparing a Technical A-Level in Services (French acronym : ARCU). All of them were in the second of a two-year course. All the beneficiaries, who were selected in the European Department of our vocational school, went on a 4-week work placement in British companies in Barking or Romford, in the East of the capital city (Greater London). The added value of their vocational training is substantial. Indeed, thanks to this extraordinary work experience abroad and thanks to their vocational training in our European Department, all of them were rewarded by : •the Europass Mobility passport •the Europass CV • the Europro diploma •a special oral examination in English in order to have them graduate with the 'European Department' distinction on their diploma •The brand new 'Euromobipro ' certificate granted by the French Ministery of National Education •Furthermore, the British placement mentors assessed our students at the end of their work experience, using a specific competency assessment chart . Our project, titled 'Living and working in the UK' was divided into 2 steps, corresponding to two school years : - 1st school year, 2014/2015 : creation of a questionnaire which would be used by our beneficiaries to do a survey in the British partner companies and in their host family during the first mobility period. The aim of this survey was to collect the information we needed to create our leaflet : information regarding health, housing, meals... for the first part of our leaflet ('Living in the UK') as well as information concerning the world of work (job search, job interview, employment contracts...) for the second part of our leaflet ('Working in the UK'). - 2nd school year, 2015/2016 : Thanks to the responses collected in the survey, creation, printing and handing out of the bilingual leaflet titled 'Living and working in the UK'. To avoid using staples, we didn't create one leaflet but we created two : 'Living in the UK' and 'Working in the UK'. We enclose these two leaflet to this final report in PDF format. They can also be seen online on our school website. During the second mobility period (Spring 2016), our beneficiaries handed out 200 copies of these booklets (printed on recycled paper) in our partner companies and in estate agencies operating in the area of Barking and Dagenham because estate agencies are often a stopping-off place for expatriates. Our students also gave some leaflets to the local Chamber of Commerce in case some of their members would show some interest. Upon completion of our project, we can say our objectives have been achieved as we were able to do our survey during the first year and in the second year, our beneficiaries have succeeded in creating, printing, handing out our leaflets during the second mobility period.
