The unity of the group begun with the first team-building activity that created a comfortable atmosphere of working and sharing,
leaving behind stereotypes, prejudices or personal insecurities. We succed to solve some lack of interest in some participants by
getting all of them involved as a group.
From that point on, based on individual and group reflection, individual and group work, they discovered new and old emotions
and creative ways to express them. As it was not an art course but a Youth Exchange based on non formal Learning we
succeeded day by day to make all the participants comfortable to express themselves through artistic tools.
Natural elements, recycling material, pencils, colors, paint, music, decorations and others were some of the ingredients
transformed by the participants into small and personalized masterpieces.
This youth exchange was aiming at supporting and encouraging self-development using visual arts as main tools.
The specific objectives were:
- to guide 25 young people towards applying constructive creativity as a communication channel
- to embrace artistic means of expression for improving mutual understanding at personal, cultural and multicultural levels,
through the participants of 25 young people from 5 different cultural backgrounds
- to show through a non-formal methodology how arts are and have been connected with behaviors and emotions, in order to
appeal to the most adapted for social growth
- to share good practices of listening and self expression that encourage sense of initiative and active participation at individual
and collective levels
- to explore individual and intercultural challenges through the active involvement of each participant with active tasks.
The project succeeded to reach the specific objectives of the project, all of the participants were able to apply constructive
creativity as a communication channel, to communicate and understand each other etc. It was very impressive to notice how
some of them get involved in this field for the first time, starting to express themselves, touching deeper the other and their
culture etc. Of course the results was different case by case, but for each of the participants there was a growth, for some was a
little growth but for the majority of the participants it was very impressive.
