The provision of care services to young people in residential institutions is a complex process that requires a multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach and that involves a large team of psychologists, social workers, educators... Although progress is being made, research in the field points out that young people in residential care have more difficulties to achieve a full social integration and have an autonomous life. On the 8-12 June 2015 a study visit was held during 5 days with the general aim to promote the professional development of workers from the three organizations involved in the project: Educational Platform (Spain), Bundesverband Terapeutische Gemeinschaften (Austria), Für Soziales (Germany) that work in the field of youth in order to improve their impact on the young people they provide services thus improving their wellness and social integration. The project consisted in study visits to the different services provided by the organization Für Soziales. Each organization involved 5 professionals including psychologists, social workers and educators. A total of 15 workers in the field of youth participated in the project. The study visit has stated that each organization develops different methodologies, processes or services to achieve similar goals. Sharing good practices on the methodologies, processes and services developed by the three organizations has been considered to be very useful to improve their performance towards the young people. The objectives of the project were: • Share information and experiences (good practices) among workers in order to acquire new knowledge and skills need to improve their provision of services to wards young people in care. • Increase networking between the three organizations. In this sense, this activity aims to be the first joint initiative after signing the collaboration agreement between the three organizations in February 2014. • Identify new opportunities for joint collaboration The mobility addressed 4 complementary topics of common interest for the three organizations: 1) residential models 2) education, 3) therapeutic care and 4) social integration. The methodology of the mobility activity consisted of 5 visits to services managed by the organization Für Soziales that are related to the above mentioned 4 topics. The visits served as a preamble for fruitful discussions and exchange of good practices among participants. The visits focused on the following services: 1) a residential service for parents and their children, 2) a residential therapeutic service 3) a care service for unnacompanied migrant minors 4) a school for special education 5) a service providing support and guidance to young people and their families.
