Virtual Glass Academy - A Pedagogical Model for e-Learning with Multimedia Support

The Virtual Glass Academy project will develop and test a pedagogical model for problem-oriented (day to day problems faced by employees), interactive, net-based courses with multimedia support, aimed particularly at those within the glassworking industry.Through the exploration and testing of a variety of pedagogical and technical methods, a training model and course will be developed for existing industry employees and for those undergoing study with regard to future entry to the industry. A working group will be established comprising guidance specialists, technicians, subject experts and educationalists to investigate guidance approaches & guidance methods appropriate to e-learning.The primary project focus will be in the combination of both practical and theoretical knowledge, elements of this being based upon interviews undertaken with the end target group, regarding day-to-day workplace activity. The project will then go on to develop; an outline course structure (in EN), a pilot course on glass defects (for sole use within the industry) and a supplementary study guide for end-users.An educational platform (website) will be established to host actual course materials, with the primary platform language being EN and remaining course data being produced across all partner languages (SV, RO, CZ & FR).A variety of promotional activities are planned to include e-mailings, internet linking and attendance at appropriate conferences within each partner country. Commercialisation of the platform and materials is to be further considered beyond the lifetime of the project.
