The Project "The Eye of Vilnius" is a common work of the youth of four countries : Lithuania, Italy, Latvia and France, towards a better understanding and discovering of Vilnius - The capital of Lithuania and European Union culture - through photography. Young people with hearing disabilities that will take part in this project understand and discover world through vision. One rich and visual image can tell more that thousands of mean less words. Project participants - 7 deaf young people from Lithuania, 6 youngsters from Italy, 6 from Latvia and 6 from France. The project is unique by its content and form, and also the target group. Young people from 4 countries together will make one common activity - open air photo gallery - on the street of Ðv. Kazimiero. Project participants are young people and young deaf. 25 young people for one week while the Youth festival "Young Europe, Young Lithuania" will take place will create an image of Vilnius as the young, dynamic, unique with it's cultural identity, able to concur, city; will implement an active citizenship of young people making special effort on the European citizenship; will provide an integration of the groups with less opportunities. In their communication young people will discover unique cultures of different counties through art, also through individual and cultural perspectives. That will give them a new look on Vilnius city.Main project idea - unite young people of four counties in one common action -creation of an open air photo gallery "The Eye of Vilnius", which is dedicated to Vilnius - The capital of European culture 2009. Professional pictures made by young people will discover unique places of Vilnius. Actions will help young people discover their identity and individual expression caught on the professionally made pictures and video. Pictures will express a look of young people on old streets of Vilnius. Old Vilnius seen by eyes of young people.
