VILLES CINEMA - Promotion créative du patrimonie culturel a travers du reseau 'Villes Cinema' (VILLES CINEMA)
Start date: Oct 31, 2003, End date: Apr 29, 2006 PROJECT  FINISHED

A 70% increase is expected in global revenue for the European Communitys audio-visual industry up to 2005. However, the European audiovisual sector operates in a very competitive environment, to the extent that independent producers have to join forces in order to implement their projects. Moreover, producers filming in cities often face logistical and legal problems, a lack of local services and other challenges, which complicate their activities unnecessarily. Overall objective / Objectif général To establish cooperation between six cities for the development and joint promotion of audiovisual productions: to create an office for audiovisual production in each city to act as an intermediary between producers and the administration and to offer facilities for filming locally; to promote the cultural and urban heritage of cities towns among local, national and international producers; and to encourage cooperation between cities and producers. Expected results / Résultats attendus The main result of this project will be the creation of a cooperative working structure comprising six audiovisual promotional offices. This will allow action to be taken jointly which otherwise would not be possible with the same scope. The medium-term effects are as follows: • Job creation: audiovisual productions create jobs in both the audiovisual and service sectors. • Creation of permanent structures for audiovisual promotion. • Strengthening of the European audiovisual sector. • Promotion, domestically and in other countries, of the cities cultural image and heritage as excellent locations for large productions. • Strengthening of European inter-regional cohesion. New, coordinated management mechanisms.
