Vielfalt belebt alle / Diversity invigorates everyone
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project of the youth exchange, entitled “Vielfalt belebt alle” (“Diversity invigorates everyone”), is a project that is based on the conciseness of the situation in Europe. We recognize the fact that although we live in a globalized world, the fear and prejudices are too often overwhelming our everyday intercultural experiences. During the youth exchange, the participants get positive experience of plural society and lose from their prejudices they may have with the meeting with unknown culture. Last few years Europe had to face the migrant issue and all the cultural and religious differences that migrations brought in our everyday life. Events, which we have experienced in Europe in last few months (violence, terroristic attacks in Brussels and Paris, sexual and other violence in Koln etc.) and the reactions that followed, create an overall negative image of the migrants and refugees. Consequently, the fear, anger and hatred prevail in personal and, nevertheless public speech. This problematic is omnipresent in social media and youngsters join in the debates more or less actively. They meet the subject every day. Through the concrete meetings with refugees and migrants that we would invite to our youth exchange meeting as guests, that means as workshops leaders etc., we would help to overcome the negative opinion the youngsters may have in general and help them to consider critically all the information they get from media, social media and others. One of our main objective is to help youngsters realize that none of the tragic event shall generalize the public opinion on the topic. It is to present refugees and migrants as concrete people with their proper stories, fears and joys, in concrete situations. We would set the program of the exchange as a preventive program for the participants. The participants of our project are group of youngsters, at age from 14-19, with their group leaders. They come from five different countries: Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro and Serbia. At the youth exchange, we will carry out many diversified activities, as for example musical and sport activities, creative activities, interesting workshops with guests, creating videos and newspaper, visiting the local youth centers …We expect the project will encourage the youngsters to value tolerance, difference and respect. The participants will have a different approach to the thematic of migrants and refugees in Europe and will know about the importance of the responsibility and solidarity. We expect that they will participate in debates of social situation in Europe and that they will take the positive approach to respect of every individual. Throughout the planned activities (music, filming, writing, sport …) the youngsters will develop or even discover their talents, so we wish for them to develop their personality even more. We are expecting that after the experience of the youth exchange they will participate at other Erasmus+ programs or another youth exchange.
