Vieillissement Actif et Solidarité Intergénérationnelle en Europe
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

As evidenced by the Europe 2020 Strategy and the 2012 European Year dedicated to active ageing and intergenerational solidarity, both topics are of major concern for the European Commission. With an ageing population, it is important indeed to help older people to control as long as possible their own lives and to contribute to economy and society, in accordance with their capabilities. Moreover, disadvantaged youth struggle to fit into the professional world and in wider society governed by social codes and standards. So, if young people need the elders to structure their future, seniors also need help from youngsters to understand the present reality. Now, although complementary and similar in some asspects, these two groups have little or no opportunities to exchange and cooperate. The objective of the project VASIE - Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity in Europe- is to make pre-retired / new retirees and disadvantaged youth to work together to find means to take an active share in society. Therefore, on basis of three selected social skills, VASIE kit will be developed by and for them. It will include needs analysis & collection of best practices, a training device and a manual. Personal, interpersonal and intercultural skills that they will develop / acquire can then be implemented in the course of a professional activity (in company or associations). Acquired skills will even be more valuable while dealing with uncertainties of a changing labour market. Thus equipped, pre-retired / new retirees and disadvantaged youth will improve, at least, their physical, mental and social well-being.
