Video Systems in Education
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Video learning systems can be an important element in the development of the European educational system. However It takes specialist skills to develop and implement a video learning strategy and most schools have a lack of knowledge and information on video learning systems. The ViSE project will produce an interactive guidebook on implementation of video learning systems, Massive Open and Online Courses (MOOCs) to develop the skills af school staff towards implementation of video learning systems and teaching practice with use of video learning systems. The 5 partners in the ViSE project represent more sectors and they all have one or more important expert skill on video learning: 1. VUC Storstrøm, applicant organisation and DK partner. Adult educational center. Expert in real presence video conferencing systems in general adult education and upper secondary education (Global Classroom). 2. Kaunas University of Technology, LT partner. Offers master level (MSc) on ICT in learning, expert in MOOCs and other large scale online educations, experts in learning management systems as provider and service center for the school intranet learning system and the video conference and webinar platform for schools in Lithuania. 3. Tampere Adult Education Centre (Tampereen Aikuiskoulutuskeskus, TAKK), FI partner, offers a range of vocational adult educations. TAKK have specialized in motivating adult learners to learn, progress and succeed together despite cultural differences and language barrieres. They have adult students from over 40 countries studying in Finnish every day. TAKK uses video conference to connect with distant learners and partners. 4. Institut Obert de Catalunya (IOC), ES partner, provides distance learning educations on more levels up to Upper secondary for more than 15.000 learners. They are specialist in learning materials for digital distance learning and on-line counseling services. 5. Algemeen Pedagogisch Studiecentrum (APS), NL partner, works with school and learning development. They are specialist in digital learning systems as the Flipped Classroom The interactive guidebook will present 40 - 50 show cases, i.e. 6 - 9 showcases in 6 topics: 1. Motivating learners – video used in innovative collaboration in the virtual classroom. Headed by FI partner. 2. Distance learning and guest teaching with use of video conference. Headed by ES partner. 3. Innovation methods and knowledge sharing systems – anchoring the ICT development in the organisation. Headed by DK. 4. Flipping the classroom – a new learning concept. Headed by NL partner 5. Webinars and MOOCs – live video streaming. Headed by LT partner. 6. Global Classroom – learners connected with use of real presence videoconferencing. Headed by DK partner. The showcases will be developed in innovation work groups with other partners and with specialist supervision from one of the partners. All showcases will be documentation of the actual implementations of a video learning elements in real live situations in different sectors in the school system. The work groups will use the Innovation method for development of ICT learning. The method is developed in the Global Classroom project by Aalborg University, DK and the DK partner. We believe that the way to success in these matters goes through co-operation between the school management, the teachers and the learners (students, pupils, adult learners …). The teachers and their skills are in focus in this project as each of them will implement one or more new elements in their teaching. But during the process each partner will produce documentation on how the new framework is prepared by the management and how the learners respond to the new elements. The ViSE project will use MOOCs and internal and external training courses for the exploitation and dissemination of the project results. We aim at presenting the MOOCs for a large audience across the school sector in Europe. The impact will be measured by the number of participants in the MOOCs and the number of guests we will account on the interactive guidebook. The long term benefits will be that the school sector will have a solid, practical and applicable tool for development of both strategies and specific choice of video learning element.
