Vertiefung von Englischkenntnissen für den Unterricht im Metallbereich
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The vocational school I in Kempten has a high interest in strengthening the international approach of the dual apprenticeship at school, especially in the field of metalworking. There is a strong need for the apprentices to be prepared for a work abroad after their apprenticeship. This is due to the fact that the companies in our region are very international and/or have customers all around the world. To meet these requirements more student exchanges with Erasmus+ are planned, too. The sponsoring companies have a high demand on well skilled workers to set up and commission their machines and products abroad, or to solve problems together with international customers. Unfortunately English is not taught as a subject in most parts of the metalworking field. To improve the apprenticeship and to be able to increase the number of flows, three teachers should take part in a language course at NILE within the next two years. These teachers will then set up and strengthen the job related English teaching in the metalworking jobs and perform new Erasmus+ projects with their students.NILE is renowned as an organiser of language courses for ESL speakers and has been the choice for many of these courses for our regional government of Swabia. Some of them were visited by teachers form our school as well.On the long term our school hopes that the teaching of our apprentices gains a much more international level, which is definitely needed, and thus adding value to the apprentices and the companies in our region.
